Just know there's a chance your laptop may have no clue what to do with this thing.(My laptop uses Windows XP, Service Pack 3) Also, the box advertises 50 free songs plus 1 free audiobook when you visit an eMusic site, but there's a catch: You have to sign up for a subscription. All in all, a good player. They told me I'm not the first to have this problem, but there's nothing I can do except try a desktop.I won't have my desktop with me when I go off to college, but I do have one here, and I've had to resort to filling it with music now. With that irritation aside, this little thing really does work well on my desktop computer. Notice I say desktop. On my laptop. I called technical support. What I really like is you can access your folders on the player itself and delete entire collections of music without having to plug into a USB drive.
The only real fault of the package is the set of earbuds, which don't come with any kind of padding and aren't very comfortable. nothing. It's not supposed to come with any software. I added and deleted music a few times, never with any problems. The "Found New Hardware" wizard pops up over and over again, looking for any kind of software for the player. So, on a desktop computer, this thing works well.
But that's the thing. The sound quality is good, the FM radio is good, the display is good.
It just plugs into the USB port with no problems and you can just drag the files to it, or use windows media player or any other music program you have to sync your music to it. This product is good to have if you just want some music to go along with you and you don't want something overpriced. The FM radio option on it is nice, and light weight and sleek look are a plus too.
Also the program sucks. I've never needed to lock it because you need to push the buttons hard to get the vol up and down, switch tracks, etc. It took 3 min just to start-up and one time it would not let me eject the MP at all. This is my first MP3 player and I paid a little over $20.00 for it. It's sturdy, "sips" battery power, sounds really good, and has plenty of memory, but there are some draw-backs. When I put in a disk it feels the need to save each track twice or not at all.
However, I'm currently using the radio function and the sound is very nice considering how small and light this is. Very nice starter player. I'm not a techie type, and am still figuring out how to put my own music on it. The headphones that came with it immediately hurt my ears, so I ordered another pair from Amazon and that did the trick.
MUCH better. I DO however agree with other reviewers that if you are considering purchasing this product that you also purchase a different set of ear phones. (Knock on wood). BUT once I replaced the ear phones, the sound was much fuller. For the price, this really was a great little gadget. I use it about 5 out of seven days, for about 2 hours each day when I go to the gym and I haven't run into any problems yet. The ear phones that are provided make the sound seem a bit like your listening to your favorite tunes through a tin can.
